How do you think having siblings (or not having siblings) affects who you are as a person?

It has some effect, though to what degree depends on your personality.

For example, someone who is very boisterous and outgoing will not be made an intorvert by having siblings.

I also feel that your birth order effects your realtionships with others.

I am the oldest of 4 (and the first grandchild), the next oldest being twins 8 years younger.  I despised my sisters when they arrived and even asked my Mommy to take them back.  I was used to being an only child.  No one to compete for attention with, no one stealing my toys, every little bit of Mommy love and attention came to me.

My sisters and I get along much better now.  In fact, I would say we started looking at each other as sisters and not comptetitors when I left for college.

That said....

I am still an attention whore and used to being the center of attention and the one doted on most.  But I am much less of a prissy witch then I would have no doubt been if I was still an only child.  I fully believe that I am a better person from having my hair pulled and my stuff broken by 3 small dirty people that lived in my mother's house. 

And now we are all fully formed , real people.  Ahhh...

This is changing slightly now as one of the twins had a baby about 5 months ago.  And baby Jude takes what was originally my place.
